On October 23rd, 2010 the conference committee was proud to host the 3rd Annual MTABC Conference. This year’s conference theme was “Moving the Profession Forward: Building a best care practice”. The day was rich with a variety of presentations from Keynote speaker Jennifer Buchanan from JB Music in Calgary, Martin Howard, Kristine Theurer, Larry Keats from Salmon Arm, Sara Fretz, and Joel Kroeker. New this year, we had an internship panel moderated by Susan Summers that brought together Jennifer Buchanan, Kristine Theurer, Sheila Harry and Mara Sawchyn to offer various perspectives on the internship experience. The next day Jennifer offered a full day “how to” workshop designed for service providers, skilled and motivated by their profession and seeking new techniques on how to increase their profile, profession and portfolio.

Sandy Pelley from Music Therapy Suite was on hand to sell instruments and supplies. Sheila Lee sold the book which her and Lennie Tan had written that was presented at last year’s conference called “Singing Under the Plum Blossom Tree: A Collection of Chinese songs.” Kristine Theurer presented her Java Music Club manual that emanated from her masters degree research and sold her music CDs.

Thanks to all the presenters, volunteers, committee and board members, delegates and vendors who have contributed to this conference to make it a success! For further information, Visit our conference page here.
