Kayla is a graduate of the Bachelor of Music Therapy Program at Capilano University and founder of Soul Sounds Music Therapy in Kelowna, BC. Following her internship at BC Children’s Hospital, it’s been a dream to bring Kayla’s career home to the Okanagan.

Through her clinical practice, Kayla strives to provide a safe, supportive space for people of all backgrounds. She shares her passion and expertise in song-writing and music improvisation to support clients in the creative therapeutic process. Kayla emphasizes the importance of providing a reflective voice for both verbal and non-verbal clients. All music therapy sessions are personalized to support individuals’ needs and reach client-centred goals. Kayla incorporates a variety of instruments including voice, guitar, piano, ukulele, and various rhythmic and melodic instruments.

As part of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, Kayla promotes interprofessional collaboration to deliver the highest quality of care for everyone. Working within a framework of trauma informed therapy, Kayla holds additional training in The Bonny Method of GIM Level 1, Trauma Informed Practice Training Level 1 and Mental Health First Aid.
