Hello there!
My name is Mary Cobham. I am a certified music therapist and graduate of the Capilano University music therapy program. The bulk of my practice is with youth and younger-adults in two areas: Disability (ex. children, teens, and adults who have disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorders, Down’s Syndrome, and other developmental disabilities) and at-risk youth (ex. Incarcerated teens, youth experiencing addiction issues, youth coping with trauma, depression, anxiety, or other emotional issues). My practice involves working at client homes, in community settings, or at facilities such as schools or detention centres.
My approach combines humanism and behaviorism models, and is also informed by ongoing trauma and disability research. I see the strengths and motivations of my clients, and create opportunities for them to engage in music to help them achieve their emotional, spiritual, cognitive, physical, social, communication, and musical goals.
