Maryann Burrows graduated from Capilano University in North Vancouver, B.C. with a Bachelor of Music Therapy in 2005, and is certified through the Canadian Association for Music Therapists (CAMT Certification #0446). During her senior years she was the recipient of the Jim Campbell Music Therapy Award for excellence in practicum training.
Maryann currently provides music therapy to Island Health residential hospitals, nursing homes and clients in the community. Maryann has facilitated Suzuki Tone Chime choirs, inter-generational programs, family caregiver support groups, supervision of many volunteers & students, and worked closely within interdisciplinary teams in the health care setting.
In addition to her work with clients, Maryann served as Co-President for the Music Therapy Association of British Columbia from 2015-2017 and is a current member; is a member of the Greater Victoria Eldercare Foundation. She has given a variety of in-services and lectures on the subject of music therapy, most recently presenting to students of the Canadian Mennonite University Bachelor of Music Therapy program.
Maryann is currently working towards a specialization in Helen Bonny’s Guided Imagery & Music method of music psychotherapy, an is an Advanced Trainee through the Association for Music & Imagery. Please visit the website to learn more about this method of therapy and opportunities for free sessions
